This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.
Automatic installation
Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install of WooCommerce, log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.
In the search field type “transdirect shipping” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found our plugin you can view details about it such as the point release, rating and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by simply clicking “Install Now”.
Manual installation
The manual installation method involves downloading our plugin and uploading it to your webserver via your favourite FTP application. The WordPress codex contains instructions on how to do this here.
Updating
Automatic updates should work like a charm; as always though, ensure you backup your site just in case.
For plugin setup
Under Woocommerce settings, navigate shipping tab then Transdirect Shipping option.
Click Enable Transdirect to enable the plugin. For Authentication, add API-Key, provided by Transdirect, please contact sales@transdirect.com.au.
For all settings of plugin please visit https://www.transdirect.com.au/members/api/apimodules
This plugin has too many bugs to list. It simply doesn’t calculate correctly, it you refresh or change anything it behaves odd, such as giving away free shipping. Support is worse than terrible. At first they asked for all of my passwords to my entire domain and website because they are too lazy to remote with me to work through the issues then they basically said that they know it is useless, but it is free. After asking me for lots of info and screenshots they stopped replying and despite multiple attempts to get in contact they won’t respond. After two weeks with shipping that doesn’t work and no response from their support I’ve removed the plugin and am using a real shipping plugin that works.
The integration with Wordpress and Woocommerce is superficial at best.
Woocommerce has shipping zones and classes which can be applied to categories and products but these are totally ignored in the Trans Direct plugin which requires you to create rules via their website for each product using the SKU. Which then presents a maintenance issue for new products which will have to be manually added to the list of rules.
The manual online rule creation process doesn’t allow you to edit a rule once created – even though there is an edit button which allows you to make changes, there’s no way to save your edit. OK you can import those rules from a CSV file but the process is clunky and the sample CSV file contains column headings but no sample data.
The CSV file also uses a + sign to indicate an amount should be added to the shipping cost. In a spreadsheet + is used to start the entry of a formula so the only workaround is to enter ‘+ which may mean the import fails. OK you can export the spreadsheet file to CSV and then search and replace but someone should have picked it up in testing.
Judging by the number of unanswered comments in the WP support forum I’d suggest that support is patchy.
I would really like to give more stars for this review, however their support for this plugin really sucks. We’ve been trying to get assistance for over a month now with sporadic email contact and no real way forward to resolve.
Hard to recommend in light of this issue with support.
