Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI connects Claude AI to your WordPress website using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once installed, you can instruct Claude to publish content, set SEO meta, and manage your site — without opening the dashboard.

Works with Claude.ai (web), Claude Code (CLI), and any MCP-compatible AI client.

MCP is an open standard by Anthropic that allows AI models like Claude to connect to external tools and services. Claude AI Connector exposes your WordPress site as an MCP server — so Claude can read and write content just like a human would.

🚀 How to Connect Claude to WordPress

  1. Install and activate Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI
  2. Go to Settings Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI and copy your Claude Connection URL
  3. Open Claude.ai Settings Connectors Add Custom Connector
  4. Paste the MCP Endpoint URL and API Key
  5. Start giving Claude commands like: “Create a new post titled ‘Best AI Tools 2025’ with Yoast focus keyword ‘AI tools’”

🔒 External Services

By default, this plugin does not transmit your data to any external service. All core communication happens directly between Claude AI and your WordPress REST API endpoint. Your credentials and content stay on your server.

Two features connect to third-party services, and only run when you explicitly configure and use them:

  • Pixabay — used only when you add a Pixabay API key on the settings page and call the search_stock_photos or import_stock_photo tools with source=pixabay. Your search keyword is sent to pixabay.com/api/. See Pixabay’s Terms of Service: https://pixabay.com/service/terms/
  • Unsplash — used only when you add an Unsplash Access Key on the settings page and call the same tools with source=unsplash. Your search keyword is sent to api.unsplash.com, and (per Unsplash’s API guidelines) a download-tracking request is sent when you import a photo. See Unsplash’s API Guidelines and Terms: https://unsplash.com/api-terms

Neither service receives your post content, credentials, or any data beyond the search keyword you provide.

FAQ

Does this plugin work with Claude.ai web?

Yes! Go to Claude.ai Settings Connectors Add Custom, then paste your MCP Endpoint URL and API Key. Works on Pro and Team plans.

Does this work with Claude Code (CLI)?

Yes. Add the MCP server config to your ~/.claude/claude_desktop_config.json file. Detailed instructions are on the plugin settings page.

Is my WordPress data sent to Anthropic or any third party?

No, not by default. Your data stays on your server, and the plugin only exposes a local API endpoint — Claude AI connects directly to your WordPress site, no middleman. The one exception: if you configure a Pixabay or Unsplash API key and use the stock photo tools, your search keyword is sent to that provider. See “External Services” above.

Does it support custom post types?

Yes! You can specify any registered post type when creating or updating posts via Claude.

What SEO plugins are supported?

Yoast SEO and Rank Math are fully supported. If neither is active, the plugin falls back to standard WordPress post meta fields.

Can I restrict what Claude can do?

Yes. On the settings page, you can enable or disable individual tools (e.g., disable post deletion, restrict to draft-only).

Is it compatible with WordPress Multisite?

Each site in a multisite network needs its own API key. The plugin is compatible with multisite but manages keys per-site.

Do I need to know coding to use this?

No. Installation is the same as any WordPress plugin. The settings page gives you everything you need to connect Claude.

Does this plugin support WooCommerce?

Yes. WooCommerce product management (create/update products, categories, tags, stock, price, variations, and custom fields) is available on the Agency plan. The free version does not include WooCommerce tools, but every other feature listed above is completely free.

Can I create Elementor pages with AI?

Yes — this is the plugin’s flagship feature. On the Agency plan, Claude can build a full Elementor page from a single prompt (sections, columns, widgets, styling) or edit any existing widget, including Elementor Pro and third-party add-ons. The valid fields for each widget are looked up live from Elementor itself, not a fixed list, so it stays accurate as your add-ons update.

Will an AI-built Elementor page match my site’s existing design?

Since every site’s Elementor setup is different, Claude can analyze your existing pages first (colors, spacing, commonly-used widgets) and bind new content to your site’s Global Colors/Fonts — so AI-built pages follow your established style instead of looking generic.

Will Claude’s Elementor edits break my page layout?

Every widget setting is checked against that widget’s real, live control schema before it’s written, and building a full page is all-or-nothing — if any part references a widget type that doesn’t exist, nothing is saved. That guarantees structurally valid output. It doesn’t guarantee the design choices are exactly what you’d have picked yourself, the same as when a person uses Elementor — review new pages before publishing, same as any AI-generated content.

Is the free version fully functional, or is it a limited trial?

The free plan is fully functional for post, SEO, category, tag, and media management — no time limit, no feature crippling. Paid plans (Starter, Pro, Agency) add higher usage limits and advanced automation such as bulk posting, custom fields, WebP conversion, and WooCommerce tools.

Do I need a Pixabay or Unsplash account to use stock photos?

Yes, but both offer a free API key. Get one from pixabay.com/api/docs/ or unsplash.com/developers, then paste it into Settings Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI Stock Photos. This works on every plan, including Free.

Does WebP conversion work on any image?

It converts JPEG, PNG, and GIF images uploaded or imported through the plugin’s tools. It requires the Pro plan (or higher) and a server whose image library (GD or ImageMagick) supports WebP output — most modern hosts do.

  • Fixed: category and tag descriptions (regular categories/tags, and WooCommerce product categories/product tags) could not contain HTML — headings, lists, and links were silently stripped on save, even though the tools always accepted them. This was a WordPress core restriction (term descriptions are re-sanitized on save with a comment-level tag filter) that also affects editing these fields in wp-admin itself; it’s now safely bypassed only for our own already-sanitized (wp_kses_post) writes, so create_category, create_tag, wc_create_product_category, wc_update_product_category, and wc_create_product_tag all now support full post-level HTML in descriptions
  • Updated: tool descriptions for these fields now explicitly note that HTML is allowed

  • Fixed: any site that had ever saved the “Enabled Tools” settings page was silently missing every tool added in a later release — the saved list was a frozen snapshot, so new tools (e.g. set_yoast_seo_term for product categories, added in 1.4.0) were treated as disabled even though nobody unchecked them.
